Bumble Bee Seafoods Opts For Pumadur Hf Flooring By Resdev

Bumble Bee Seafoods, North America’s largest branded shelf-stable seafood company, has selected Pumadur HF flooring refurbishment work. This is for an area serving a waste compactor where the concrete surface had been severely damaged over time by exposure to food borne acids and forklift traffic.

Significant damage to existing flooring

The floor area, measuring 1500ft2, presented with significant damage to the concrete including exposed aggregates. New-Jersey-based flooring specialists Seamless Flooring Systems, specialists in the installation of decorative and industrial resinous flooring, recommended Resdev’s Pumadur HF as the best solution for the task.

Slip resistant finish good for wet and dry processing areas

Pumadur HF is a water-dispersed heavy duty polyurethane floor screed with a lightly textured surface and matt finish, developed for use on concrete and polymer modified cementitious screeds. Combining high levels of durability, impact, abrasion and chemical resistance with a slip resistant finish, the material is used extensively in both wet and dry processing areas including floors subject to heavy duty traffic, plant vehicle areas, pharmaceuticals, food and chemical processing as well as cold storage and freezer flooring.

Turnaround of just 2 days

With a window of just two days to complete the work, the team from Seamless Flooring Systems began by using chipping hammers to remove the remnants of the existing floor, following by scarifying and diamond grinding to the edges to level the floor and prepare it for further treatment. Following this, Pumadur HF was applied across the full area of the floor, using Resdev’s Pumadur CG for coating cove base and curbs to finish off the project and create a seamless solution.

Pumadur capable of withstanding high temperatures under pressure

Pumadur HF and Pumadur CG are stable to steam cleaning and hot water exposure in line with Bumble Bee Seafoods’ operational cleaning regime of 160oF/71oC degree hot water under high pressure with ambient temperature at 40oF/4oC. In addition, the flooring is capable of withstanding the thermal shock, impact and abrasion requirements of the client from fork lift and pallet jack traffic with heavy loads.

The project was completed on time and to budget, and Bumble Bee Seafoods were able to return the compactor area to business without any significant disruption or downtime.
